In the National Office - Sally-Forth Heaney-Garzoli
Let's find out who's who ...

A conversation with Sally
This month, we go behind the scenes with Communications Coordinator Sally-Forth.
Whether she’s managing social media, designing promotional materials, or advocating for the 'Community' outcome area, Sally focuses on making sure our communications reflect the incredible work happening on the ground. Read on to learn about her mixed bag role, her collection of four cats, and why she’ll always gift you a Salinger book.
Sally, what’s your role at HIPPY, and what does your day-to-day work involve?
I work in the Network Engagement team as a Communications Coordinator.
My day-to-day work is a bit of a mixed bag, which I really enjoy. I do a mix of social media, support the network with the HIPPY Australia brand, and help create promotional and marketing materials (and lots more).
Through that, I’ve had the chance to do some really cool work
I’ve collaborated with the curriculum team and external designers to support the creation and updates for some of the HIPPY storybooks.
I was also lucky enough to travel to Brisbane last year for the SNAICC conference, where I supported the HIPPY presence by helping develop the collateral used there.

A big part of my role is also supporting storytelling and advocacy, helping share the impact of HIPPY in ways that are accessible and reflect the communities that are delivering the program
With HIPPY's four outcome areas. Which one speaks to you the most, and why?
That’s a hard one… but if I had to pick just one, I think Community stands out most to me.
Community, connection and a sense of belonging are so important for everyone. The connection to community is what makes the HIPPY program work (families building networks, connecting with local services, and supporting each other), and that’s where we see long‑term impact.
It’s also important to acknowledge that this isn’t a one‑way street.
A big part of what makes HIPPY, and the 'community' outcome area, so special is what is happening at our sites
Families, communities and providers shaping the program in ways that work for them. That’s always exciting to see.
