National Reconciliation Week 2026

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

This year’s theme, All In, encourages all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day. It represents a shared commitment to building an equitable future for all, truth-telling, deep listening, and action.

Reconciliation isn’t the responsibility of First Nations peoples alone. We have carried the weight of championing, explaining, and acting for far too long… This call is not about guilt or shame but about the responsibility and reciprocity of being Australian

Karen Mundine Reconciliation Australia CEO

Getting involved

NRW is an opportunity to support children and families to learn through stories, culture, community connection, and everyday conversations.

If your site is planning an activity or event, we would love to hear about it.

You might be:
  • Sharing First Nations storybooks
  • Hosting a Gathering or community event
  • Creating artwork or displays with families
  • Exploring language, Country, or local history
  • Attending a local event
  • Talking with children and families about respect, history, culture and community

Share your stories with us. These stories may be featured on the HIPPY Australia social media channels during NRW.

If you do not want your story or activity shared publicly, please let us know.

We are looking for:
  • Photos and videos, with consent
  • Family or Tutor stories
  • Activities and events
  • Children’s artwork or learning experiences
  • Reflections from sites

Send submissions to: HIPPYAustralia@bsl.org.au

For more information and resources, you can visit the official Reconciliation Australia .

Reconciliation Australia is the lead body for reconciliation in Australia. It is an independent not-for-profit organisation which promotes and facilitates reconciliation by building relationships, respect and trust between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

The website is a rich source of information and resources alike.
