"HIPPY helped me get back into the workforce"

My son has always been a shy child so HIPPY sounded like a wonderful opportunity. It has been a pleasure to see my son become less reserved and to see a new confidence in him, which has enabled him to be more involved in school and the community.

When I enrolled my son in HIPPY, I never thought that I would also be getting a job opportunity along with it.

HIPPY parent and tutor

I successfully applied for a Tutor role at my HIPPY site. Once I started working, I really discovered what a fun program HIPPY is, and I am grateful that it has helped me get back into the workforce after being a stay-at-home mum for three years.

HIPPY has not only given me my confidence back but has taught me much about myself as a mother, teacher of my child, and as a person. I have learnt new skills in my role and have met some amazing people from all over the community.

HIPPY and Communicare have opened so many doors for me: I am now working for Save the Children as an Aboriginal parent support worker alongside my Tutor role.

HIPPY has provided me with the opportunity to do accredited training and I have now almost completed my Certificate IV in Community Services.

I would certainly recommend the HIPPY program; without it I don’t know where I would have been.
